Prince Harry Shares Family's New British Breakfast Rituals

Prince Harry has shared a glimpse into his family's embrace of British life, highlighting a newfound appreciation for Marmite on crumpets among his children, Archie and Lilibet. The Duke of Sussex, speaking at the WellChild Awards in London, described this breakfast habit as perhaps the "most British thing" his family has been doing since their return from California.

He recounted how his children, who previously disapproved of the strong-flavored yeast extract spread, now "very much" approve of it. "They used to dis me for having Marmite in the house but now we are in the UK that is kind of water under the bridge," Harry said.

While walks were jokingly offered as the most British activity, Harry's revelation pointed to culinary integration. He also shared a past attempt to introduce another British breakfast staple, beans on toast, to his family while they were still in California. "That was years ago. It didn't go down very well at all," he recalled.

The light-hearted exchange occurred as Harry spoke about his role as a father and his involvement with the WellChild charity. He reflected on how parenthood has deepened his connection to the annual awards, which honor seriously ill children and their caregivers. "Once you become a parent it does change everything," he stated, expressing gratitude for having healthy children.

Harry also related a common parental experience of dealing with "Monday blues" among Archie and Lilibet before school, a feeling he likened to his own "Sunday night blues" before attending boarding school. He managed to shift their mood by discussing his evening's activities at the WellChild ceremony, which captured their interest.

He and Meghan aim to use their work to foster understanding of others' lives in their children. "No longer being 5000 miles away should make it easier to be more available to support the charities that need us and that we really enjoy working with," he added.

Since relocating from California in August, Harry and Meghan have been settling back into life in the UK, with their children beginning school in Britain. Harry has been making various charity appearances, including his long-standing commitment to WellChild, a cause he has supported for 18 years. He presented an award to six-year-old Margot Jones-Billington at the ceremony, marking another occasion in his extensive history with the organization.
