Prince Harry provided updates on his family's well-being during a surprise appearance at the Time100 Sports Gala in New York City on Thursday. He told guests that his father, King Charles III, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, is "doing great."

An insider shared that the Duke of Sussex also indicated that his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are content being back in their California home after a recent, brief trip to the United Kingdom. Harry reportedly remarked to a guest, "The kids are growing like weeds."

Prince Harry's Public Appearance

Harry's attendance at the gala was unexpected. During the event, he spoke on stage about the Invictus Games, an adaptive sports event he founded in 2014 for wounded military veterans. "For many of you, sport shaped who you became. For me, sports instilled essential core values from a very young age. But it didn’t shape my identity as a young man; the British army did," he stated. He added that after leaving the army, he felt "lost" and turned to sports to help him cope, describing it as "medicine."

The Duke also spoke with Page Six on the red carpet, expressing his disappointment over England's loss to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals. He was seen interacting with guests, including New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson.

Recent Family Reunion

The gala appearance followed Harry's visit to the UK earlier in the week. Buckingham Palace had announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Markle, and their children at Highgrove House. This marked the first time the King had seen his grandchildren since 2022. Markle and the children did not make any public appearances during the visit. Harry's decision to travel to the UK came after he was denied taxpayer-funded security. He reportedly arrived in the UK alone initially.
