Prince Harry Says Children Are Thriving in UK Schools Thanks to 'Endless Playdates'

Prince Harry has shared that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are settling well into life in the United Kingdom, attributing their adjustment to numerous playdates with friends. In a recent interview, Harry, 42, stated that his children are ‘loving school’ and enjoying the opportunity to be close to family and friends.

“It's been nice to be close to friends, family, friends of friends and their children as well – to be able to have endless play dates to really, like, help our kids settle in,” Harry said. He added that having his children within the British school system has ‘meant a lot’ and offers them a ‘whole different experience’ compared to their time in the United States. The family relocated to the UK in August after six years in Montecito, California.

Harry, who shares his children with wife Meghan Markle, 45, expressed a desire for his children to experience aspects of the life he had growing up. “To actually have my whole family there with me, the place that I grew up, wanting to be able to show my kids where I grew up and have them have the experiences to some extent that I had – the good rather than necessarily the bad – provided real, proper, serious thinking as to, ‘This is an opportunity, let's do it now.’” he stated.

His children were initially enrolled in a local school but were withdrawn after two days due to security concerns. The exact location of their UK residence and school remains undisclosed for safety reasons. However, Meghan has been seen at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds.

The Duke of Sussex also touched on his relationship with his family, describing reconciliation as the most important thing to him, while acknowledging that ‘some people don't want it to work out.’ This comment comes amid ongoing tensions following his and Meghan's departure as senior royals in 2020. Despite the strained relations, Harry expressed a desire to 'let go of the past' and urged others to do the same, noting that there is 'enough drama in the world.' He also revealed he is grieving his 'complicated relationships' with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William, but remains hopeful for reconciliation.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan later clarified that Harry's comments about some people not wanting reconciliation were not directed at his brother or any other family member, but were made in a general context.

Singer Joss Stone previously shared that Harry had discussed the positive aspects of UK schools and the importance of community for children with her. “He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children,” Stone told Hello! magazine. “It was nice to share that with him because it's exactly why we felt drawn to come back – for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends, and a strong sense of belonging and, most importantly, in a safe environment.”

Harry recounted a humorous anecdote about Archie’s initial reaction to starting school, where his son asked if he could attend a school that did not teach math. Despite this, Archie began attending the new school, and Harry implied that math was indeed part of his first day's curriculum.
