Prince Harry Says Children Are 'Happy in School' Amid UK Relocation

Prince Harry has shared that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are settling well into their school in the United Kingdom. This update comes shortly after the family's relocation back to Britain after several years living in California.

"The kids are happy in school," Prince Harry stated in a recent interview with CTV. He added that it has been "great to be back on British soil." This sentiment echoes remarks he made earlier in September at a charity event promoting the Invictus Games, where he conveyed a similar positive update on his children's schooling.

During a separate event, the Prince mentioned that the family has been enjoying various activities since their return, including numerous walks, and that the children have been trying traditional British treats like marmite on crumpets. The family's move back to the UK reportedly surprised many, including their former school in Santa Barbara, California, which was not informed by the couple about their decision not to re-enroll the children for the current academic year.

Earlier in September, reports indicated that Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, were temporarily removed from their school just two days into the term. This decision was attributed to security concerns, specifically the strain that heavy traffic was placing on their security detail. A spokesperson for the couple explained to Hello! magazine that the decision to move schools was made "following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements." The spokesperson emphasized that this decision was "in no way an interpretation on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there" and that the parents "remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff."

A source close to the couple told a publication that the parents had completed security assessments before the term began but were unable to fully test the school run until classes commenced. "It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents," the source said. "It was perfect for them in every way and the children really enjoyed their time there. They really wanted to make it work, but they had to make a difficult decision based on the fact that the team couldn’t make the school run operationally secure."

According to reports, the family's residence is situated at a considerable distance from the school, rendering the commute impractical and potentially unsafe. Concerns over security were further amplified by an incident where Meghan Markle's personal phone number was reportedly leaked through a parents' WhatsApp chat group. Additionally, parents at the school had reportedly been issued a warning about the importance of only taking photos of their own children.

King Charles III addressed his son and daughter-in-law's return in a letter released after their move, characterizing them as "private citizens with commercial and charitable interests."
