Prince Harry is reportedly planning to produce a film focusing on his late mother, Princess Diana, a development that has led to "intense frustration" from his brother, Prince William. The Daily Mail cited royal expert Richard Kay in reporting that Harry has been reaching out to friends and acquaintances of Diana to contribute to the project.

Kay alleged that Harry's return to the United Kingdom was partly motivated by this endeavor, which is expected to occupy his attention for the next year. The report suggests that William feels his younger brother is attempting to exclusively claim their mother's legacy.

"William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself," Kay stated. He also noted that while William does not frequently discuss his mother, Harry's project could reignite public associations between the Duke of Sussex and Princess Diana.

The relationship between the two brothers has been strained for years. The last occasion they were reportedly in close collaboration was in 2017 for the documentary "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy." Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, recently relocated to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, after leaving their home in Montecito, California. There has been speculation that they are house hunting in the Cotswolds and considering private schools for their children. Harry's father, King Charles III, who revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier in 2024, is also mentioned as a potential factor in the Duke of Sussex's move back to England.

Meanwhile, William and his wife, Catherine, are said to be maintaining their public duties, with a friend of the couple reportedly stating that their lives will continue regardless of Harry and Meghan's proximity. Meghan Markle is also reportedly considering a return to acting during their time in the UK.

Representatives for both Prince Harry and Prince William did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
