Prince Harry's address on the dangers of artificial intelligence at a New York City event on Wednesday was temporarily halted due to a technical failure. The Duke of Sussex was approximately seven minutes into his remarks at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting when the interruption occurred.
After a 40-minute delay, Harry returned to the stage, quipping, "Hello, again." He then joked that "AI got into [his] speech" and expressed curiosity about what the technology had been concerned about. He continued his address, warning the audience about technology companies aiming to "find you, hook you, exploit you, break and then blame you."
Harry emphasized the personal significance of the topic, sharing his concerns as a father to Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, with his wife Meghan Markle. "I come to this as a father," he stated, adding that he had engaged in numerous conversations with parents who had lost children due to "recklessly built technology."
The event marked Prince Harry's first public appearance in the United States since he and Markle relocated to England with their children in August. The couple had previously resided in Montecito, California, before moving back to Harry's native country.
Since their return to the UK, both Harry and Markle have made select public appearances. Markle has been seen at the Soho Farmhouse members' club and the Three Horseshoes pub in the Cotswolds, where she was photographed with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Prince Harry has participated in several solo events, including the Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner & Awards, the launch of the INSPIRE education program, and the WellChild Awards.
Reports have also emerged of Harry being in discussions for a documentary about his late mother, Princess Diana. This alleged project has reportedly caused friction with his brother, Prince William. Charles Spencer, Diana's brother, fueled speculation about the documentary in his recently released memoir, "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister." When questioned about the book, which includes critical portrayals of King Charles' reaction to Diana's death, Harry did not respond.
