Prince Harry has returned to the United Kingdom for a series of engagements, marking his presence at a film premiere in London on Monday evening. He attended the premiere of his friend Misan Harriman's documentary, “Shoot the People,” at Picturehouse Central. Harriman, who previously photographed Harry and Meghan Markle to announce their second pregnancy, was also present, alongside filmmaker Andy Mundy-Castle and broadcaster Afua Hirsch.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry stated that he was "in good form" and "really happy to be back in the UK and really looking forward to the week’s engagements." This visit marks his first time in the UK since last year.
Security and Accommodation Issues
Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, did not accompany him on this trip. The decision was reportedly due to concerns over taxpayer-funded security arrangements. Harry's representative indicated that following a decision by RAVEC (the Royal and VIP Executive Committee) not to provide security for his family, the Duke spent the previous week making alternative arrangements. Once these were in place, he formally accepted an offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.
However, his representative expressed disappointment that the offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was subsequently withdrawn. According to Harry's team, Buckingham Palace was aware of an upcoming judgment in a legal case since the previous Thursday, and it remained unclear why the accommodation offer was rescinded after being formally accepted. The BBC, however, reported that Harry had not responded in time to the offer and was informed on Saturday evening that he would not be able to stay there.
Harry has not brought his children back to the UK since 2022. A source indicated last month that the Duke "desperately wants" his children to visit their grandfather, King Charles.
Prince Harry's Engagements
During his week in the UK, Prince Harry is scheduled to participate in several public appearances to support various charities. One of his key engagements includes initiating the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham.
Friend's Controversies
The premiere Harry attended also highlighted recent controversies surrounding Misan Harriman. He has faced accusations of anti-semitism, including allegations of criticizing news outlets for omitting a Muslim victim from coverage of an attack and comparing the success of a political party to the Holocaust, according to The Telegraph.
