Prince Harry has extended an invitation to his father, King Charles, to attend the Invictus Games in Birmingham next summer, according to reports. Organizers are expected to invite the King to either the opening or closing ceremony, or potentially to sporting events where he could meet competitors.

This gesture comes after a recent in-person meeting between Harry and Charles, which also included Queen Camilla, at the Highgrove estate. This gathering marked the first public meeting between father and son in four years. The Duke of Sussex is reportedly encouraged by this reunion and is keen to arrange more opportunities for his father to spend time with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. King Charles has seen his grandchildren infrequently since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.

A source close to Prince Harry indicated that the upcoming Invictus Games are significant for him, stating, "Next year is a big deal for Harry. He is determined the Birmingham Games will be the best ever. It would mean the world to him to have his father there."

The potential attendance of King Charles at the 2027 games in the West Midlands could signify a significant step toward reconciliation between the father and son, whose relationship has reportedly deteriorated over the past five years. Sources suggest the King would be receptive to seeing his grandchildren again.

Prince Harry, who is the patron and founder of the Invictus Games, has previously spoken about the event's personal importance to him. He was reportedly feeling "really energised" following his recent visit to meet his father. The meeting between the Harry's family and the King and Queen lasted for over an hour.
