Prince Harry suggested a potential return to the United Kingdom a year before the announcement that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, would relocate their family back to Britain. The Duke of Sussex spoke with singer Joss Stone in September 2025 at the WellChild Awards, where they discussed the feeling of being "drawn to come back" to England.

Stone, who had moved back to the UK from Nashville earlier that year, told Hello! magazine that Harry inquired about their adjustment to life back in Britain and expressed genuine interest in their move. "Maybe Harry will move back too," Stone recalled predicting at the time. "That would be nice."

She noted that Prince Harry commented on the quality of schools in the UK and the importance of community for children. "It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back — for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends and a strong sense of belonging and, most importantly, in a safe environment," Stone added.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. Page Six confirmed on Wednesday that the family of four is moving back to England, with reports indicating the children will attend school in the UK.

Prince Archie was born in England in May 2019, prior to the couple's departure from the UK. They subsequently settled in Montecito, California, where Princess Lilibet was born in June 2021.

According to The Sun, King Charles III was informed of his son's decision only on Sunday, shortly after Prince Harry's meeting with his father earlier in the month. "Charles is a big reason for their return," a source told Page Six on Wednesday. "They have so many friends and family in the UK whom they remain so close to."

However, Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, are reportedly still not on speaking terms.
