Prince Harry Completes Skydive to Honor WWII Veteran, Contacts Meghan

Prince Harry completed a skydive outside Toronto to raise awareness and funds for two Canadian military charities, Sunnybrook and the True Patriot Love Foundation. The jump was undertaken to honor a promise made to 102-year-old World War II veteran Ed Marshall, who had previously shared that he skydived for his 100th birthday.

Inspired by Marshall, Harry had pledged to skydive with him upon his return to Toronto. "I'm not in the business of letting people down but you cannot let a 102-year-old veteran down," Harry stated after the jump. While Marshall was unable to participate in the skydive due to a medical evaluation, he was present, and Harry noted that a parachute was placed on him, expressing relief that Marshall did not attempt to jump himself.

Following the skydive, Harry immediately contacted his wife, Meghan Markle, to assure her of his safe landing. He mentioned that while Meghan was not required to be convinced to perform the skydive, she was "very relieved once we were down" and had expressed concern during his time in the air.

Harry, who is preparing to stage his Invictus Games for military veterans, spoke with Canadian network CTV about the event. He also shared that things are going "great" since the family's return to Britain on August 26, stating, "It's been great to be back on British soil." He added that his children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, are "happy in school," which allows him to "really focus on Invictus in Birmingham."

When asked by CTV about the reasons for the family's relocation, Harry responded that there were "lots of reasons" but chose not to elaborate, emphasizing his desire not to detract from his fundraising efforts for Canadian veterans charities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working royals in 2020. Information regarding their reasons for relocating from California to the UK remains a subject of speculation, with various theories circulating, including a desire for their children to foster a closer relationship with their grandfather, King Charles, Meghan's potential return to acting, or an effort by the couple to increase their public profile.

Reports indicated that King Charles was pleased to spend more time with the family but maintained that they would not return as working royals. Shortly after their arrival, Harry and Meghan reportedly expressed surprise following a letter authorized by the King and circulated by the Lord Chamberlain, which reiterated that the couple were "private citizens" and outlined guidance on their public treatment. The couple is reportedly awaiting a decision on whether they will receive taxpayer-funded security and may prefer to be referred to as "public figures."

Schooling for the Sussex children has also presented challenges, with Archie and Lilibet reportedly moved to a new, undisclosed institution after only two days. This decision was attributed to the strain on their security team caused by heavy traffic and the lengthy journey to their previous school.
