Prince Harry Can Earn Up To $1 Million Per Speech, Expert Claims
Despite recent charity appearances, the Duke of Sussex commands a high fee for elite speaking engagements, according to a branding expert.
Prince Harry has the potential to earn up to $1 million for exclusive speaking engagements, even as he has recently participated in several unpaid appearances for charitable causes, a branding expert has stated. The Duke of Sussex, 42, has made appearances at high-profile conferences and charitable events in New York City this past week.
"Harry’s royal title and persona can still do damage to an event budget," Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Page Six. "For a keynote, he’s getting anywhere from $250,000 to $750,000 and for elite, exclusive events close to $1 million."
Schiffer added that "not every one of these stops is a cash grab with hidden checks." While it remains unclear if Harry received direct compensation for all of his recent appearances, Schiffer believes his current schedule could be financially beneficial in the long term.
"A lot of his microphone is largely going to be unpaid, but he’s getting the attention, and that keeps him in the spotlight and further bookable for other things," Schiffer explained. He also suggested that Harry might be intentionally shifting his focus away from high-paying commercial ventures as he works to improve his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and enhance his and wife Meghan Markle’s public image in the United States.
During his recent New York trip, the Duke of Sussex spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative's annual meeting, addressing the dangers of social media and artificial intelligence for children. On the same day, he participated in the Skift Global Forum, discussing sustainable tourism and his conservation work in Botswana, referencing his late mother, Princess Diana. On Thursday, Harry made a surprise appearance at an event hosted by The Diana Award, where he spoke about supporting young people in the workplace and the importance of mental health.
Schiffer stated that "Most of this is legit charity, so his total take is peanuts compared to moves he has done in the past," but maintained that Harry’s royal status provides him with significant earning potential. A representative for Prince Harry did not respond to requests for comment.
