Prince Harry attended the TIME100 Sports Gala in New York City on Thursday evening, where he was recognized among the 100 Most Influential People in Sports 2026 in the 'Leaders' category. While walking the red carpet, the Duke of Sussex, accompanied by sporting figures like LeBron James, Lindsey Vonn, and Jalen Brunson, was asked about England's World Cup semifinal loss to Argentina.

"Of course!" Harry told Page Six when questioned about his feelings following the match. England had conceded a late comeback against Argentina, losing 2-1 after holding a 1-0 lead. Lionel Messi was instrumental in Argentina's victory, securing their place in the final against Spain.

Prince Harry's older brother, Prince William, had previously shared his disappointment on social media, stating he was "gutted" by the team's performance. He praised the players for their effort and belief throughout the tournament.

England's semifinal defeat saw them unable to reach their first World Cup final in sixty years. Anthony Gordon had scored to put England ahead in the second half, but Argentina's Enzo Fernandez equalized late in the game, followed by a winning header from Lautaro Martinez in injury time.

At the gala, Harry mingled with athletes, including NBA champion Jalen Brunson and US soccer player Folarin Balogun. He also shared a moment with US Olympic skaters Alysa Liu and Madison Chock.

He has spoken about the profound impact of sports on his life, stating, "Sport held me together." He noted that without sports, he might not have remained in school.

The upcoming Invictus Games are scheduled to take place in Birmingham, UK, and are expected to host approximately 550 competitors from around 25 nations.
