Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Montecito Mansion Remains Vacant
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not planning to rent out or sell their California home as they adjust to life in the UK.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's $14.5 million mansion in Montecito, California, will not be occupied by new residents following their return to the United Kingdom last month. A source close to the couple told Page Six that "no one is moving in" to the estate, though a maintenance crew is still tending to the property.
The speculation about the future of the 18,000-square-foot home, which the couple purchased in 2020, arose as they have been spending time in the UK, reportedly due to King Charles III's health. The estate features amenities such as a tennis court, tea house, pool, children's cottage, rose gardens, and a two-bedroom guest residence.
During their time in the UK, Prince Harry has resumed public appearances, including a charity event for the Invictus Games, where he stated that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are happy in their new school. Meghan Markle has reportedly been attending Pilates classes in Oxfordshire.
While there were previous reports suggesting that Harry and Markle might sell the Montecito property, with mortgage payments and taxes cited as potential factors, a recent source indicated that such a decision is not currently being considered.
