Earl Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana, has claimed that King Charles, then Prince of Wales, "went ballistic" in a phone call shortly after Diana's death.

Spencer recounted the alleged incident in an exclusive interview with the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg. The conversation reportedly took place in the days following Diana's fatal car crash. According to Spencer, the dispute centered on whether Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, should participate in their mother's funeral procession.

Spencer claims that during this argument, Charles stated, "we'll forget her soon enough."

Buckingham Palace issued a response to these claims, as detailed in Spencer's new book. A palace spokesperson stated that the King was "mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."
