Prince Andrew Faces New Investigation Over Epstein and Maxwell Stays at Balmoral
Police Scotland has confirmed an ongoing inquiry into new information regarding the disgraced royal's associations with the convicted sex offenders.
Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, is the subject of a new investigation by Police Scotland concerning his past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at the royal family's Balmoral estate. The confirmation comes after the force received new information related to the disgraced royal's alleged activities with the convicted sex offenders.
Police Scotland stated that the inquiries are in their early stages and are evidence-led, with a focus on the needs of victim survivors. Authorities declined to provide further details on the ongoing investigation, deeming it inappropriate to comment.
Epstein and Maxwell were known associates of Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronages in 2022. Images emerged during Maxwell's 2021 sex trafficking trial showing her and Epstein at Balmoral, the Scottish retreat of the royal family. These photographs, released by the Department of Justice, depict the pair appearing at ease during a visit in 1999, a period when Balmoral was a favored summer residence for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Andrew himself has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein's sex trafficking activities. He was previously investigated over claims made by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's alleged victims, who accused the prince of forcing her to have sex on three occasions when she was 17. Prince Andrew settled the civil lawsuit brought by Giuffre out of court for millions of pounds while maintaining his innocence.
Further scrutiny has arisen from a 2001 email, purportedly sent by someone identified as "A" and signed off with "A xxx," to Maxwell. The sender, who was at "Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family," inquired about Maxwell finding him "new inappropriate friends." Flight logs also indicate that Prince Andrew and Maxwell traveled together on Epstein's private jet from Luton to Edinburgh on September 1, 2006. This flight occurred two months after Epstein's arrest on charges of soliciting prostitution in Florida.
British police had previously expressed a desire to speak with anyone possessing information about this specific 2006 flight. Prince Andrew's alleged misconduct in public office has also been a subject of inquiry, stemming from accusations that he forwarded confidential trade documents to Epstein during his tenure as the UK's trade envoy.
