The family of the late Virginia Giuffre has been informed by acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche that Prince Andrew cannot be investigated in relation to the Jeffrey Epstein files because the former prince is refusing to cooperate, according to a report. Blanche met with Giuffre's brother and sister-in-law, Sky and Amanda Roberts, along with other survivors of Epstein, on Thursday.
During the meeting at the Department of Justice headquarters in Washington, Roberts reportedly confronted Blanche, President Trump's nominee for Attorney General, about the investigation into Epstein's co-conspirators. According to The Times, Roberts said he presented Prince Andrew as an example, stating, "Virginia provided testimony and she provided evidence, is that not an investigative lead?"
Blanche allegedly responded, "Well, he won't co-operate with me," and "Virginia's not here so I can't use that testimony." Roberts described the exchange as feeling "like he wasn't willing to work with us."
Virginia Giuffre, who died last year, had accused Prince Andrew of having sex with her on three separate occasions while she was allegedly being sex-trafficked by Epstein. Prince Andrew has denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein, stating he does not recall meeting Giuffre and has not been charged with any offenses.
Republican senators had previously threatened to hinder Blanche's confirmation as Attorney General, with outgoing Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina indicating he would not vote to advance the nomination until Blanche met with the survivors.
Documents released from the Epstein files have also suggested that Prince Andrew, a former trade envoy, forwarded confidential government itineraries and commercial reports to Epstein. Thames Valley Police are also investigating the former Duke of York for alleged misconduct in public office during his tenure as trade envoy.
