The Primm Valley Resort & Casino, once a bustling gambling destination nicknamed 'Mini Las Vegas,' is set to reopen its doors on July 22, just 17 days after Terrible's, a historic Las Vegas-based operator owned by the Herbst family, took control. This rapid turnaround marks a significant effort to revitalize the Primm, Nevada, community, which had seen its last operating casino shuttered over the Fourth of July weekend by former operator Affinity Interactive.

Primm, situated on the Nevada-California border, was historically a popular stop for Southern Californians traveling to Las Vegas. It drew millions of visitors with its casinos, outlet mall, and affordable gambling options. The resort previously featured attractions such as a sportsbook with high-definition televisions, a popular lottery ticket store, and even a 'Bonnie & Clyde exhibition' showcasing the infamous duo's bullet-riddled car.

A Fading Destination

Despite its past allure, Primm has experienced a decline in activity. By early July, neighboring casinos Buffalo Bill's and Whiskey Pete's had already closed, leaving Primm Valley Resort as the sole remaining gambling establishment in the area. The abrupt closure of Primm Valley by Affinity Interactive fueled concerns that the town's status as a destination was fading.

Terrible's, with its extensive experience in casino ownership and operation, is banking on fresh investment, upgraded facilities, and new promotions to entice motorists to stop. The company finalized its acquisition of the Primm properties on July 5, following an agreement with Affinity Interactive and members of the Primm family, who developed the resort decades ago.

The reopened casino will feature 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar, and a 24-hour quick-service restaurant. Further enhancements, including a coffee bar, a 24-hour cafe, and a steakhouse, are planned to open in the coming months as renovations continue. The swift reopening also helped preserve hundreds of local jobs that were at risk following the casino's sudden closure.

For many former patrons and residents, the potential closure represented the end of cherished memories. Online discussions revealed sentiments of sadness over the decline of Primm, with some users sharing personal anecdotes of visiting the resort during its more vibrant years. One user described the resort as feeling 'dead' with large areas roped off prior to its shutdown.
