Presley Gerber Reportedly Under Influence at Rehab Prior to Death
Sources claim the 27-year-old model and son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber did not appear sober upon arrival at a Santa Monica treatment facility where he later died.
Presley Gerber, 27, allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a substance when he checked himself into a Santa Monica rehabilitation facility on Saturday, one day before his death, according to sources who spoke with TMZ. Gerber died on Sunday at Resolutions Living, a luxury rehab center, from a suspected overdose.
He was the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. His family, including sister Kaia Gerber, released a statement requesting privacy during their "very difficult and painful time." The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has not yet released the official cause or manner of his death. 911 dispatch audio reportedly indicated he went into cardiac arrest prior to his passing.
An insider told Page Six that Gerber, who had openly struggled with addiction and depression, had voluntarily admitted himself to the facility. The source added that he "had not been doing well" and despite his struggles, "wanted so, so badly to be free of his addictions."
In November of the previous year, Gerber shared on Instagram that he was taking a break for his mental health, announcing his return with a commitment to be "stronger, clearer, more intentional than ever." He also initiated a "Mental Health Mondays" movement to encourage open discussions about mental health issues. The following month, he announced he had been sober from alcohol for five months and discussed using medications such as Buprenorphine, ketamine, and Xanax for severe panic attacks.
Gerber had a previous DUI arrest in California in December 2018 at the age of 19. He was subsequently sentenced to two years of probation, a DUI program, and community service.
