Presley Gerber Reportedly Prescribed Ketamine Amidst Addiction Struggles

Presley Gerber was allegedly prescribed ketamine by a doctor, despite ongoing struggles with the drug and addiction, according to a report by TMZ. Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at a Santa Monica, California, rehabilitation facility.
Sources close to Gerber expressed anger to TMZ, believing the prescribing doctor should face legal consequences for continuing to issue the drug. These sources reportedly shared that Gerber had confided in close friends about his issues with ketamine prior to his death.
Ketamine is FDA-approved as a general anesthetic but is also sometimes used in the treatment of drug addiction. It is unclear what substances were in Gerber's system at the time of his death.
Gerber, 27, had been open about his struggles with mental health and substance use in the years leading up to his passing. He had reportedly checked into the rehab facility over the weekend, acknowledging he needed help.
An insider told Page Six that Gerber had "not been doing well" and had "always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person."
Gerber's death follows a similar situation involving actor Matthew Perry, who died in October 2023 from acute ketamine overdose. Five individuals, including a doctor, were subsequently charged and pleaded guilty in connection with Perry's death.
