Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of models Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has been cremated days after his death, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ. Gerber passed away on Sunday, September 20, while staying at a high-end rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles.
His remains were cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home. His occupation was listed as an entrepreneur involved in mental health. His parents plan to keep his ashes at their residence. The cause of death is pending an investigation by the medical examiner, awaiting test results.
Sources close to the family told TMZ that funeral arrangements are underway, with the ceremony expected to be small. Loved ones are reportedly considering Forest Lawn or Malibu Presbyterian Church as potential venues for the funeral, which may occur within a week.
Following news of Gerber's death, the family has been supported by close friends, including actress Laura Dern and George Clooney.
New details have emerged regarding the circumstances of Gerber's discovery. Sources close to the investigation indicated that Gerber was found in a bedroom at the rehab facility on September 20. He had reportedly checked into the facility the night before his death, which followed cardiac arrest. According to TMZ, investigators were told Gerber's body was found near, but not on, the bed.
At this time, fentanyl has not been a focus of the investigation, though final confirmation of any substances involved will await the Medical Examiner's toxicology report. Previously, audio of a 911 emergency dispatch call from the Santa Monica rehab facility was released, which included mentions of "cardiac arrest" and "overdose." The dispatch audio indicated a rapid deterioration of Gerber's condition, with the initial call for cardiac arrest being upgraded to an "overdose" within minutes.
Sources close to Gerber also informed TMZ that a physician had allegedly been prescribing him ketamine, despite awareness of his past issues with the drug. While ketamine can be used in addiction treatment, this use is not FDA-approved.
