Presley Gerber, 27, died on Sunday from a suspected overdose while staying at a Los Angeles-area rehabilitation facility, according to a new report citing TMZ. His family, including supermodel mother Cindy Crawford, businessman father Rande Gerber, and sister Kaia Gerber, was informed of the suspected cause of death.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office has confirmed his death.

Gerber had been increasingly open about his decade-long battle with drug addiction and mental health challenges on social media. In November, he announced a step back from social media to focus on his mental health. The following month, he shared candid videos discussing his personal struggles, including his experiences with panic attacks and night terrors. He detailed the medications he was taking, acknowledging that his usage had fluctuated and expressing uncertainty about dosages at times.

He spoke about the challenges of navigating medical advice and the overwhelming number of medications prescribed by psychiatrists, noting he had seen 15 professionals. "I'd like doctors to be like, 'Take this three times a day.' But every psychiatrist I've had - and I've had 15 - are like, 'Here's 20 medications and take this if you feel like this, take this as needed,'" he stated in one video. "And I'm like, 'No, don't give me that much leeway.' I need some direction."

In a July 2025 video, Gerber reflected on his upbringing as an "active" child involved in sports like swimming, surfing, and water polo. He noted that his work led him to deprioritize physical activity, which he believed negatively impacted his mental health, stating it took him ten years to realize the need to reconnect with exercise.

Gerber, who began his modeling career at 15, had appeared in campaigns for labels such as Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. He was signed to IMG Models and featured in a 2018 Pepsi advertisement with his mother. He was arrested for driving under the influence in 2019.

His younger sister, Kaia Gerber, 25, recently spoke to Vogue about the profound impact her brother's struggles had on their family. "When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone," she said. Kaia described herself as the "easy" child who tried not to add to her parents' burden, but praised her brother's willingness to be transparent about his difficulties. She characterized his honesty as "refreshing" and a departure from their parents' historically private approach to family matters.

In May, Presley posted a heartfelt tribute to his father on Instagram, thanking him for his unwavering support. His father, Rande Gerber, responded in the comments, expressing his love and commitment to their relationship.

Gerber had also expressed a desire to help others facing similar mental health challenges. In a 2023 podcast appearance, he shared his hope that his experiences could help at least one person avoid the struggles he had endured. "Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that's all I need to do," he said.
