Premier League Managers Address Media Ahead of Weekend Fixtures
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca discusses the club's response to financial rule breaches, Fulham's Alvaro Arbeloa remains focused amid job speculation, and Nottingham Forest faces fitness concerns over Morgan Gibbs-White.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has stated that the club has been galvanized by the guilty verdicts handed down for serious breaches of financial rules. City, currently leading the Premier League by three points, are awaiting an appeal after an independent commission found them guilty of all substantive charges. Maresca noted that the team, club, and fans appear more united since the judgment.
"Since the noise, I can see from my personal point of view the fans, the club, the team more together for sure," Maresca said. He added that he does not feel stress from external commentary, as it is beyond his control. The Italian manager also commented on the recent influx of inflatable bananas at matches, a trend he finds entertaining and hopes will create a positive atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa is determined not to let speculation about his job distract his team. With Fulham at the bottom of the Premier League table, having secured only two points from six games, Arbeloa described the upcoming match against Hull as a 'final'. He emphasized his focus remains on the team and the performance needed to secure a result.
"It is not about me. It is about the club, it is about the players. It is about the supporters. And like I said before, we are waiting for the game where the performance turns into a result," Arbeloa stated. He reported that the players have shown commitment in training and are focused on the upcoming game.
Nottingham Forest faces uncertainty regarding the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White for their upcoming match against Arsenal. The midfielder sustained a calf injury last weekend and has not trained with the squad this week. He is expected to participate in a training session on Saturday, with a final decision on his availability to be made afterward.
"Morgan Gibbs-White is a doubt, he couldn't train the entire week with us," said manager Oliver Glasner. "But it looks like he can join tomorrow's session. He had an individual session today with our rehab coaches, and he suffered a minor muscle injury at Palace. Then we have to see how he reacts today and how he deals with tomorrow's session, and then how we take the final decision."
Forest will also assess Nikola Milenkovic, who has returned to training following a bone bruise. Glasner indicated that Milenkovic could be part of the matchday squad, depending on his reaction to training.
