Pregnant Woman, Two Children Among 8 Killed in Pennsylvania Mass Shooting
A pregnant woman reportedly four days from her due date and her two young children were among eight victims found dead in an Erie home.
A pregnant woman, reportedly just four days away from giving birth, and her two young children were among eight people killed in a mass shooting at an Erie, Pennsylvania, home on Friday. The victims also included several other relatives.
Angelina Stone, who was eight months pregnant, was identified as one of the victims. A GoFundMe campaign established to assist with funeral expenses named her children as Isiah and Amari’anna, and her unborn child as Kyrie. A family friend told Erie News Now that Stone was expected to deliver her baby in a matter of days.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah stated that the suspected gunman, a 45-year-old man, was believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators believe all eight victims and the suspect were deceased before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Police identified the suspected gunman as being related to seven of the eight victims, and described him as the family's patriarch and a grandfather. The eighth victim was identified as a family friend. Lorah noted that mental health may have been a factor in the shooting, but emphasized that it was too early to determine a definitive motive.
A neighbor described the situation as "horrific and unimaginable," while a family friend remembered Stone's children as "beautiful, beautiful children" who did not deserve what happened to them.
