A mother who was five months pregnant with twins was killed, along with her unborn children, in a collision in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Saturday. The crash occurred when a 25-year-old driver allegedly ran a stop sign and struck the vehicle carrying Lorena Lopez and her three young children.

Moment of Impact

Lopez was driving a 2021 Nissan Altima when the collision took place. Her two other children, who were also in the car, sustained severe injuries but survived the incident. The family has started a GoFundMe page to help with the aftermath of the tragedy.

"Lorena was a loving mother whose life was cut short far too soon," her sister-in-law, Kiara Mendez, wrote on the fundraising page. "Her two children were also hospitalized as a result of the accident, and the family is now facing unimaginable grief and hardship."

At a vigil held on Wednesday, Lopez's brother, Jose, expressed the family's anger and sorrow.

"I hope he pays," Jose told ABC. "Even if he does 100 years, there is not enough time that will bring her back."
