Kalshi, a federally regulated prediction market exchange, has launched a new Midterms Hub designed to offer real-time forecasts for the 2026 midterm elections. The platform integrates live market odds, polling averages, fundraising data, historical election results, and political news into a single dashboard to track contests for the House, Senate, and governorships.
The company states that prediction markets provide a more dynamic view of elections than traditional polls, which capture sentiment at a single point in time. Kalshi's markets update continuously as traders react to campaign developments, debates, endorsements, and breaking news, offering a live read on evolving races.
According to Kalshi, approximately 75% of visitors use the platform to monitor election forecasts rather than to place trades, suggesting a growing perception of the markets as an informational resource. The hub aims to provide insights into races by competitiveness, projected party flips, and trading volume, alongside data on fundraising and past voting results.
Kalshi asserts that its markets can capture shifts in momentum that periodic polling might miss. Campaigns can use the hub to gauge the real-time impact of events like debates or fundraising hauls on public expectations, rather than waiting days for new polling data. The company claims that candidates favored by its markets have won about 90% of races since 2024, even three months before Election Day.
The platform also addresses concerns about insider trading by noting that Kalshi is federally regulated in the United States, where such activities are illegal. The company states it monitors its markets for suspicious activity.
Kalshi plans to expand the Midterms Hub beyond the 2026 elections, with the goal of establishing it as a permanent resource for tracking U.S. political races. The 2026 midterms will determine control of the House and Senate, influencing the legislative agenda during the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.
