Practical Magic 2' Arrives on Digital Platforms, Streaming Release on HBO Max Anticipated
The sequel to the 1998 film 'Practical Magic' is now available for purchase or rent, with a streaming debut on HBO Max expected later this year.
The highly anticipated sequel, 'Practical Magic 2,' is now available on digital platforms for purchase and rental, beginning October 13. The film, which continues the story of the Owens sisters nearly three decades after the original, features stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprising their roles.
Directed by Susanne Bier and written by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel, the new movie adapts Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel 'The Book of Magic.' It is set 25 years after the first film and introduces Sally's daughters, Kylie (Joey King) and Antonia (Maisie Williams), who discover their own magical abilities. The cast also includes Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, returning as the eccentric aunts, alongside Lee Pace and Xolo Maridueña.
'Practical Magic 2' can be purchased or rented on various digital services, including Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home. Prices may vary by platform, with Amazon Prime offering the movie for $24.99 to buy and $19.99 to rent. Rentals provide a 48-hour viewing window after the initial playback.
The film will also be released in physical formats, including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, on December 1, 2026. Both digital and physical releases will feature bonus content, such as behind-the-scenes featurettes and explorations into the folklore and traditions of witchcraft.
While an exact date for its availability on a subscription streaming service has not yet been announced, 'Practical Magic 2' is expected to eventually stream on HBO Max. As a Warner Bros. film, its streaming home is on the company's owned platform. The wait time for Warner Bros. movies to transition from theatrical release to HBO Max streaming has varied. For instance, 'Supergirl' became available for digital purchase about a month after its theater debut and began streaming on HBO Max approximately two and a half months later. If 'Practical Magic 2' follows a similar pattern, it could be streaming on HBO Max by early December 2026, potentially after its December 1st physical release.
Fans can sign up for HBO Max starting at $10.99 per month for an ad-supported plan, with ad-free subscriptions costing $18.49 per month. Discounted bundles including Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max are also available, with options ranging from $19.99 per month with ads to $32.99 per month without ads.
