Another potential discovery of human remains has been reported at Lake Mead, officials announced on August 16. The National Park Service confirmed that its rangers and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of possible human remains at Boulder Beach.

Investigators are working to determine if the remains are indeed human and if they are connected to any criminal activity. Law enforcement officials indicated to ABC News that a jawbone was among the items found.

This latest discovery comes as Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by water capacity, has reached an all-time low water level due to ongoing drought conditions exacerbated by climate change. The receding water has exposed previously submerged areas, leading to several finds of human remains over the past few years.

One notable discovery was a body found in a barrel, which has fueled speculation of a decades-old mob-related homicide in Las Vegas. The ABC News program “20/20” featured the mystery surrounding this discovery in 2023.

The incident at Boulder Beach remains under investigation, and further details have not yet been released.
