Patriots superfan Dave Portnoy did not hold back his criticism following the New England Patriots' 13-10 season-opening loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night, labeling the team's performance "F-minus s--t."

The Patriots held a lead into the fourth quarter against the Seahawks, who were quarterbacked by a backup. However, the game ultimately slipped away from New England, marked by late-game struggles and critical errors.

In a video posted to X, Portnoy detailed his disappointment, particularly with quarterback Drake Maye's performance. "Horrible game from Drake [Maye]," Portnoy stated. "That last throw… disgusting." He also pointed to other issues, including a "disgusting drop" by wide receiver Romeo Doubs and what he described as "s--tty" play-calling on offense. The loss, according to Portnoy, was a "s--tty way to start the season."

Maye, who had led the Patriots to an AFC championship and Super Bowl appearance in the past, threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter. One of these crucial turnovers occurred late in the game when, down by three points, Maye attempted a pass into the end zone that was intercepted by Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe.

Adding to the Patriots' woes, A.J. Brown, a significant offseason acquisition, exited the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Doubs, a free agent signee, also dropped a wide-open pass in the fourth quarter, a play that was immediately followed by an interception by Maye that set up the Seahawks for the game-deciding field goal.

Despite having an opportunity for what could have been seen as revenge for a previous Super Bowl loss, the Patriots fell short, starting their 2026 season at 0-1. Portnoy declared the Week 1 performance a failure, emphasizing the need for significant improvement.
