Pope Leo announced Sunday that doctors have detected an early-stage lung nodule and that he will undergo surgery in the coming days.
During a blessing in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, the pontiff shared that medical examinations revealed a “well-defined lung nodule, detected at a very early stage and clearly localised.” He stated that doctors advised intervention, and he has decided to proceed with surgery to have it removed.
The procedure is scheduled for the coming days. Pope Leo concluded his announcement by asking for prayers.
