Polish Police Arrest 21-Year-Old After Third School Knife Attack
The incident in Warsaw injured three people, bringing the total to four injured and one killed in school attacks across Poland this week.
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in Warsaw after injuring three people in a knife attack at an educational institution, marking the third such incident at Polish schools this week. The attack occurred at a school where the woman was reportedly a student.
The victims, all women aged 17 and 24, sustained injuries while submitting enrollment documents. The 17-year-old was hospitalized, but her condition is not life-threatening. Police stated that initial findings suggest the attacker did not know the victims and that she used a "dangerous object" in the assault.
This latest incident follows two previous knife attacks that prompted thousands of police officers to be deployed to schools across Poland. On Wednesday, a 19-year-old student injured nine people at a vocational school in the central Polish province of Mazovian. The following day, a 37-year-old caretaker was killed when a 15-year-old entered a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny, north of Warsaw.
Authorities reported detaining a 17-year-old in Sierpc, northwest of Warsaw, after he allegedly made threats to harm someone on school grounds. Polish police have arrested 76 individuals in connection with increased security measures at schools nationwide.
Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for compromising the safety of Polish children and schools. Local media, citing a police spokesperson, suggested that authorities had received information indicating the recent incidents might be linked to an internet challenge.
