West Midlands Police are continuing their search for Mahroy Stephenson, 30, who is wanted in connection with an incident in Birmingham where an officer was struck with his own baton. The alleged assault occurred on Friday during a stop and search on Soho Road in Handsworth.

The injured officer sustained a head injury and was transported to the hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged. Police stated on Monday that Stephenson remained at large and that efforts to locate him over the weekend were unsuccessful.

Footage of the altercation shows two officers attempting to restrain a man wearing a black hoodie, who is seen clinging to railings. During the struggle, one officer warns of using a Taser as the man resists arrest. The officers attempt to remove the suspect's hood and pull him toward the ground. As the situation unfolds, an officer's baton becomes dislodged. The suspect then reportedly grabbed the baton and struck one of the officers.

Following the alleged assault, the suspect fled the scene on an e-bike. The uninjured officer was seen speaking into his radio, apparently to call for an ambulance for his colleague.

The officer's baton falls loose and in the ensuing chaos the suspect grabs it and starts wielding it against the duo

Stephenson, who is from the Bartley Green area of Birmingham, is wanted on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is also wanted in connection with a separate assault that occurred on June 21.
