British Transport Police are seeking a man after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train on Monday, June 29, at approximately 5:50 p.m. The incident took place on a train traveling between London Victoria Station and Tulse Hill.

The man reportedly sat next to the woman and initiated unwanted contact before assaulting her. He moved away when he noticed other passengers observing the situation. Police released an image of a man they believe may have information relevant to their investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the individual to text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, referencing case number 134 of July 1. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

This incident occurs amidst reports of a five-year high in sexual offenses on the London Underground. A report by the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee in April highlighted what it described as "unacceptable" levels of violence against women and girls on the capital's public transport. In 2025, 4,593 sex-based offenses against women and girls were recorded, with only about 3% resulting in a charge or summons. Suspects were not identified in approximately 58% of cases, despite the presence of CCTV and ticketing data.

The notes also mention a report warning of the influence of figures like Andrew Tate on young boys, suggesting that online misogyny constitutes an "extremism" that should be countered similarly to terrorism. A separate report by the London Assembly indicated that sexual harassment has become common in London schools, with 90% of girls and 50% of boys reporting unwanted exposure to explicit images or videos.
