The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has stated that no sexual assault reports have been filed against actor Jared Leto within their jurisdiction. This comes after a BBC documentary, "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret," which was released on Wednesday, featured allegations from several women about their interactions with the Oscar-winner.
One accuser in the documentary claimed that Leto sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas motel bathroom when she was 17 years old. According to police, this alleged incident was never reported to them. The woman stated she met Leto in 2002 at a Las Vegas store when she was 17. She claims he, then around 30 or 31, assaulted her in an unnamed Las Vegas motel bathroom.
Leto, 54, has denied all allegations. In a statement to the BBC, he said, "I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false."
The documentary details allegations from 10 women about their alleged interactions with Leto, many of which reportedly occurred when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s and 40s. Four of the women accused Leto of criminal sexual misconduct. These alleged incidents span from 2002 to 2016.
Among the claims, one woman alleged that Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19 and they were alone in a hotel room. Another accuser described an alleged instance of underage sex in California when she was 17, which would be considered statutory rape. According to the documentary, Leto allegedly dismissed concerns about the age of consent in the U.S., which is 18 in Nevada.
A fourth woman accused Leto of grooming and abusing his celebrity status through repeated alleged sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16, including one instance where he allegedly suggested they have sex. This accuser was reportedly sent a non-disclosure agreement, which she refused to sign.
Other allegations include four women reporting receiving strange and sexual phone calls from Leto when they were teenagers. Another woman claimed that at 14, Leto made a lewd comment about her chest and had a security guard take her backstage at a music festival after her mother confronted him about the comment.
Leto has denied all of the claims made in the documentary. The BBC reported that nine of the 10 women were speaking publicly for the first time.
