Kent Police have released a computer-generated image of a woman seen visiting the grave of an infant known as 'Baby April,' who was discovered murdered near Singleton Lake in Ashford on April 3, 1995. The fresh appeal aims to find the truth behind the 31-year-old cold case.

Officers believe the newborn baby, who weighed 7 lbs and whose estimated date of birth was between March 25 and April 3, 1995, died of asphyxiation. Her body was found wrapped in a tissue bag inside a plastic bag.

The woman in the e-fit, described as white, in her 40s, no taller than 5ft 7in, with a medium to slim build and pale complexion, was seen at the grave between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on June 21, 2026. She appeared distressed.

She had shoulder-length grey hair and was wearing a grey short cardigan, trainers, and black leggings. She was also carrying a small shoulder bag and a fabric holdall with a floral pattern across her body, which seemed full. Police hope this individual might possess information crucial to the investigation.

An extensive murder investigation following the discovery of the baby's body did not lead to the identification of her parents or relatives. In May 2011, her body was exhumed from Bybrook Cemetery for DNA profiling, but this also did not yield significant breakthroughs.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber stated, "Baby April was named after the month she was born. Despite ongoing inquiries since that time, her parents and true identity to this date have never been found. We believe it is important to find the truth behind this tragic story and this woman might have information which could assist us in finding that."
