Police Release CCTV of Grandmother's Final Outing Before Murder
Authorities seek public assistance in the hunt for the killer of Rose Johnston, who was found dead from a head injury.
Police have released CCTV footage showing the final moments of Rose Johnston, a 68-year-old grandmother who was found dead in her home with a head injury. The footage shows Ms. Johnston socializing with friends at The Watch Maker pub in Prescot just two days before her death.
Ms. Johnston's body was discovered on Ancroft Road in Dovecot, Liverpool, at 12:35 p.m. on October 4 of last year. She was found wearing the same clothes she had on in the pub CCTV footage. She left the pub around 12:40 a.m. on October 3 and took a taxi home.
Her family described her as a "kind, caring and compassionate" woman, stating that the pain of her loss is "unbearable" as the first anniversary approaches. "Not a day goes by that we aren't desperate to find out what happened to her," they said in a statement. "The way in which she died was senseless and devastating."
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Walsh said the family "deserve to get answers" and confirmed that two men have been arrested in connection with the murder. They are currently on conditional police bail. Investigators are continuing to pursue all lines of inquiry and have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any information.
An independent charity, Crimestoppers, is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the murder.
