Avon and Somerset Police announced that a file has been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for a charging decision concerning allegations against MP Dan Norris. The investigation, initiated in December 2024, is being conducted by officers from Operation Bluestone, the force's dedicated rape and serious sexual assault investigation team.

The police confirmed that victims involved in the case have been updated on this development and will continue to receive support. Authorities have requested that the public refrain from speculation to allow the investigation to proceed without hindrance.

Dan Norris has stated that he "vigorously" denies the allegations, which include rape and sexual assault. The Labour Party confirmed it "immediately suspended" Norris upon learning of his arrest. This suspension means Norris has also lost the party whip, preventing him from sitting as a Labour MP in the House of Commons.

Despite the suspension, Norris has not resigned from his position as an MP and is now sitting as an independent. He has not attended the House of Commons since his arrest but retains the ability to vote by proxy.
