The investigation into sexual assault allegations involving Sydney Swans players has widened following the seizure of a secret recording by police. Detectives are reportedly examining the actions of a man who recorded the alleged female victims discussing the incident, which is said to have occurred on August 17 at the Pullman East Melbourne Hotel.

The man is understood to have contacted Swans officials about the recording, leading the club to alert the AFL Integrity Unit. The unit subsequently passed the information to Victoria Police.

Sexual crimes squad investigators reportedly executed a search warrant at a Melbourne home last month to obtain the recording and have interviewed several individuals as part of their ongoing inquiries. The adult entertainers involved are said to be deeply upset and angry about being recorded without their consent.

Four players remain under investigation: Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, and James Jordon, along with former teammate Nick Blakey. These players were suspended for the remainder of the 2026 season due to breaches of the Swans’ behavioral standards, a club sanction separate from the sexual assault allegations. They have denied any criminal wrongdoing.

Riley Bice, who is now considered a witness and has been cleared by police, was also suspended.

Blakey has since departed the club to join North Melbourne. Heeney has reportedly ended his engagement.

The Sydney Swans Football Club is reportedly facing civil action, with several players, including Heeney, said to have been served with a writ. Two of the adult entertainers are being represented by Carbone Lawyers, while a third has retained Slater & Gordon.

A decision regarding potential criminal charges is expected next month after a review by the Office of Public Prosecutions. A Victoria Police spokeswoman stated that comment would be inappropriate as the investigation remains ongoing.
