Police Officer Injured in Nottingham Shooting

A police officer is receiving hospital treatment after being shot in Nottingham city centre early Sunday morning. The incident occurred shortly before 04:50 BST when the officer approached two individuals in Angel Row. The officer sustained a wound to the foot, Nottinghamshire Police reported.

Detectives stated that a firearm was recovered at the scene, and a man and a woman fled. Angel Row remains closed, and a significant police presence is in the area.

Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas described the incident as "shocking" and a "sobering reminder of the potential dangers faced by officers." She added, "As we investigate what happened and work to apprehend the individuals involved, my thoughts today are with the injured officer, his family and colleagues." Rukas urged anyone with information to come forward, stating that "Even the smallest bit of information could make all the difference to this investigation."
