Detectives are investigating the unexplained death of an 11-year-old girl whose body was found in a park.

West Mercia Police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a park near Elmley Castle. Authorities have stated they are not looking for a third party in connection with the incident.
The girl was reported missing on Sunday evening and was later found deceased in a park adjacent to a cricket ground. Police acknowledged public speculation following the discovery, emphasizing that the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Chief Inspector Daniel Pilkington stated, "Our thoughts remain with the girl's family and friends at this incredibly sad and difficult time for them." He added, "We understand the death of a young girl will have caused considerable sadness and concern within Elmley Castle and the wider community."
Officers are continuing their work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. "While we keep an open mind as those inquiries progress, there is nothing at this stage to suggest there is any wider risk to the community," Pilkington said. He noted that police presence in the area is for ongoing work and to provide reassurance.
Dame Harriett Baldwin, the local Member of Parliament, confirmed she had been briefed by West Mercia Police. "My thoughts are with the family and friends of the young girl who died and I offer my support to any constituent who needs it at this difficult time," she stated. Baldwin urged against speculation and expressed confidence that the police would issue further statements once facts are established.
