Police Investigate Death of Reality Star's Newborn Son After Extended Pregnancy
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby born nearly 43 weeks into his mother's pregnancy, a gestation period described as exceptionally long by medical experts.
Police have initiated an investigation into the death of reality television personality Pala Negara's newborn son. The baby died during delivery, which occurred approximately 20 days after his due date, when Negara was nearly 43 weeks pregnant.
Negara, known for her appearance on "Ex on the Beach," gave birth to her son, Harmony Hunter, on August 28 at her home in Possum Creek, New South Wales. Her pregnancy had reached 42 weeks and five days. She and her partner, Byron Bay hairdresser Chris Hunter, announced the infant's death on social media in September.
A specialist in obstetrics told the Daily Mail that no doctor would permit a pregnancy to extend to such a prolonged term. Such extended pregnancies carry significant risks for both the mother and the baby.
Negara had been registered with a local home birth program facilitated by Byron Central Hospital. Following the tragic loss, she posted a series of photographs to Instagram. The circumstances of the prolonged pregnancy and subsequent death are now under police review.
