Police Intervene as Crowds Swarm Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Vehicle

Police were compelled to intervene during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first official joint engagement in Nottingham, England, on Thursday, as crowds gathered around their vehicle, blocking their departure. According to reporting from the event, officers had to disperse onlookers who were surrounding the couple's Range Rover, instructing them to move back.

Police were also present in the vicinity of the charities the couple visited throughout the day. This marked Harry and Markle's first official joint engagement in the United Kingdom since their relocation back from California in August.

Their itinerary included a visit to an acting workshop at the Community Recording Studio and a meeting with members of the Hubb Community Kitchen at the Himmah Hub food bank. The final stop of the day, where the crowd interaction occurred, was at Epic Partners.

The couple, along with their children Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, returned to the UK in August. King Charles announced last month that the couple would not be undertaking duties as working royals while residing in England, characterizing them as "private citizens with commercial and charitable interests."
