Police arrested a wanted man who had been sleeping on a roof in Salford, bringing an end to a two-day standoff. The incident occurred at a property on Reservoir Street, where emergency services had been present since Saturday.

Footage captured officers from Greater Manchester Police's tactical unit placing a ladder against a back porch roof. An officer then apprehended the man while he was asleep. A struggle followed, and the man was brought down and arrested in the property's garden.

Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the operation, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The man, who is 37 years old, was sought by another police force for recall to prison due to "other matters." He was arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance, criminal damage, public order offenses, burglary, and assaulting two police officers. He remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall stated that the force worked continuously with partners over the two days of disruption to reach a safe conclusion. She highlighted the extensive use of police resources and emphasized the daily dangers faced by officers protecting the public. Bagnall also extended thanks to the Salford community for their patience and understanding, noting that some properties had been damaged by the man's actions. GMP confirmed that affected residents would receive support through partnerships.
