Podcaster Criticizes 'Celebrity Traitors' Format for Slowing Pace

Podcaster Jamie East has voiced frustration with the release schedule of "Celebrity Traitors," arguing that the current format of two episodes per week, instead of the three seen in the civilian version, unduly prolongs crucial moments like round table reveals.

Speaking on his podcast, "Tales From The Celebrity Trenches," East suggested that this change risks undermining the show's momentum and could alienize its audience. "It used to be on three nights a week," East explained. "What they've done this time is two episodes, to stretch it out over more weeks. It's become inconsistent in its format, so you never know what you're going to get."

He contrasted this with the civilian series, where typically a banishment and a murder were resolved within each episode, with the murder serving as the cliffhanger. East warned the producers, "don't quit the hit. Don't f*** around with my Friday nights!"

The recent celebrity episode, which featured Maya Jama, James Acaster, and YouTuber King Kenny as traitors, ended with a tie in the round table vote between Sharon Rooney and Joanne McNally, following the murder of Miranda Hart. East described the cliffhanger as frustrating, leaving viewers uncertain about the show's progression.

East's co-host, comedian Alice Brine, also commented on the show, specifically noting Maya Jama's perceived advantage. Brine suggested that Jama benefits from "pretty privilege," positing that her appearance and demeanor make her less likely to be suspected by fellow contestants. "Maya has the trifecta: she has a really nice cadence to her voice. Her vocal pitch is husky. She never talks too quickly or too slowly. She's extremely beautiful. Not in an 'I get my hair dyed and eyebrows done' deceitful way. She was born beautiful," Brine said. "We're all idiots and we'll fall into that trap. It's the way the world works. She is this perfect thing and nobody will ever think she's a Traitor."
