Vince Gilligan, the creator of the genre-bending series "Pluribus," has provided an update on the production of its second season, confirming that while scripts are still in development, the overarching plot has been mapped out.
"Pluribus" Season 1 concluded in late 2025, leaving viewers with numerous cliffhangers. The series, which stars Rhea Seehorn, has since garnered six Emmy awards, including wins for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Seehorn.
Speaking at the 2026 Emmy Awards, Gilligan explained that the writers have "broken out" the entire second season, meaning the plot for all episodes is determined. He noted that the first two episodes are written, with the remaining scripts in various stages of completion. "We know what the whole season is, and we will share it soon with Rhea," Gilligan stated.
While the series was renewed for a second season before its debut and has become Apple TV+'s most-watched drama, a specific release date for "Pluribus" Season 2 remains unannounced. Gilligan cautioned that fans might have to wait a considerable time for new episodes. Filming for Season 2 was anticipated to begin in fall 2026, with actor Karolina Wydra confirming that production would commence "very, very soon." However, based on Gilligan's latest update, a potential return in 2028 is possible.
"Pluribus" Season 1 is available for streaming on Apple TV+. The service offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers and a single ad-free plan at $14.99 per month. A bundle including Apple TV+ and Peacock is also available starting at $14.99 per month.
