Plumber Becomes Unlikely Hero and Sex Symbol After Averting Plane Hijacking

An Israeli plumber has emerged as a national hero and an unlikely sex symbol following his courageous actions aboard a hijacked flydubai flight. Yaniv Hayoun, an ordinary plumber, is being credited with helping to avert a potential disaster when a co-pilot allegedly attempted to crash the plane.

The incident occurred on a flydubai flight bound for Israel from the UAE. The co-pilot, suspected of terrorist motives, reportedly attacked the pilot and attempted to seize control of the aircraft. According to reports, Hayoun intervened, tackling the attacker and entering the cockpit. He is said to have used techniques learned from the television show "Air Disasters" to stabilize the plane as it plummeted.

Hayoun's bravery has garnered significant attention, not only for saving lives but also for transforming him into a sex symbol. Israeli women have expressed newfound admiration for plumbers, viewing them as strong, decisive individuals capable of stepping up in critical situations. Social media personality Chaya Lev, who has lived in Israel for a decade, told The Post, "I want a plumber, baby. They’re not afraid of anything — I’m obsessed – that’s the man I want."

Lev further commented on the appeal, stating, "Who doesn’t want a man who can break into the cockpit and save the plane, after watching a TV show? It’s sexy."

The admiration extends beyond individual women, with some male Israeli personalities considering leaning into the trend. Rami Tal, a culinary personality, joked about changing his show's name to "Plumbing with Rami" out of respect for Hayoun.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with Yaniv, a passenger who helped stop a hijacked flight, at an airport.

This newfound appreciation for plumbers is partly attributed to Israel's cultural emphasis on preparedness and action, often stemming from mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces. This experience is believed to instill a sense of vigilance and readiness to act in emergencies.

Even U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged Hayoun's heroism, calling him a "Trump fan" and stating that he was a "big fan" of the plumber.

Israeli passenger Yaniv Hayoun, wearing a stained shirt, is welcomed at the arrivals gate at Ben Gurion International Airport.

The incident, which saw passengers and crew valiantly resist the co-pilot's actions, has been compared to the 9/11 attacks, with reports indicating the pilot was stabbed and the plane lost significant altitude before order was restored. The passengers, including Hayoun, were later met by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu upon their arrival.
