Ventana Grill, a cliffside wedding venue and restaurant in Pismo Beach, California, is scheduled to close its doors on September 12. The closure follows a legal battle between the venue's operators, The Old Custom House Inc., and the property owners, identified in court documents as CCC.

Court documents indicate that San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Craig van Rooyen issued an order on August 27, prohibiting the restaurant from operating on the cliffside property. The preliminary injunction, which was granted in late August, is set to take effect on September 18. A hearing in the case is scheduled for October 22.

Couples with upcoming events at Ventana Grill have been advised of the closure, and the restaurant is reportedly assisting them in finding alternative venues. The venue first opened in April 2010.

The property owners claim the venue is unsafe, citing concerns raised by geotechnical experts regarding the stability of the cliffside location. They allege that the venue's operators disregarded patron and staff safety. In contrast, The Old Custom House Inc. has accused the property owners of fabricating safety concerns as a pretext to terminate their lease agreement and force the business out. The Old Custom House Inc. filed a complaint in August 2025, alleging that the property owners, who acquired the land in 2023, breached the lease by demanding they vacate.

The Old Custom House Inc. also operates other businesses in the San Luis Obispo area, including The Custom House and Mr. Rick’s in Avila Beach, and Wooly’s and Oyster Loft in Pismo Beach.
