Broadcaster Piers Morgan and businessman Lord Alan Sugar have ended their public feud with a six-hour lunch at Club 55 in St. Tropez. Morgan, an Arsenal supporter, playfully taunted his longtime rival, a fan of Tottenham Hotspur, about their Premier League outcomes.
During the al fresco meal, a guitarist played Queen's "We Are The Champions." Morgan joined in, waving his arms and posting a photo with the caption, "We are the Champions. (@arsenal ) No time for Losers. (@spursofficial ) @lord_sugar." Lord Sugar, beside him, gestured for the filming to stop.
Another photo showed the pair making faces and pointing at each other, with Morgan mimicking Lord Sugar's signature catchphrase, "You're fired!"
Morgan shared that the lunch was "magnificent" and thanked the staff at Club 55. The pair's rivalry dates back to 2007 when Morgan was eliminated from "Comic Relief Does The Apprentice." Their exchanges continued on Twitter and in public appearances.
In 2019, Lord Sugar quipped about Morgan after he shared a BAFTA award, suggesting Morgan's presence was the reason his show, "Good Morning Britain," did not receive one. Morgan also made a jab about Lord Sugar's appearance, responding to a comment calling him "gorgeous" by saying, "Despite efforts of his plastic surgery, that's not gorgeous."
Despite their public spats, the two are reportedly good friends. Lord Sugar was invited to Morgan's 50th birthday celebration. Lord Sugar previously told The Mirror that their online exchanges involved a "certain comradery."
The pair previously lunched at Club 55 in 2019 with Joan Collins, sharing photos and joking about their group. Morgan referred to themselves as "El Chapos" in one caption while posing with a cigar.
