Pierce Brosnan and Sons Address Nepo-Baby Debate at Film Premiere

Pierce Brosnan recently attended the premiere of his son Paris Brosnan's new film, "Seniors," at LA's TCL Chinese Theatre, accompanied by his wife Keely Shaye Smith and their other son, Dylan Brosnan, along with their respective girlfriends.

The outing comes as the younger Brosnan sons navigate careers in entertainment, a path that has inevitably drawn discussion about nepotism. Pierce Brosnan, 73, known for his role as James Bond, addressed these concerns, stating his desire to avoid any "tawdry suggestion" that his sons shouldn't pursue acting due to his influence.

"Consequently he has made a film now and he's good," Brosnan said of his son Paris. "I told him if he wants to be an actor he must train and study, and he wants to do those things. I don't allow myself or him to get tangled up in any tawdry suggestion that because I am his father he should not become an actor, if that is his destiny. If you have a passion and a desire to do the work, you must do it."

Paris, 25, who stars in "Seniors" as a rebellious high school student who befriends a war veteran, echoed his father's sentiments. "I'm so fortunate that I have my dad's name but I want my art to carry its own weight," Paris stated. "I absolutely need to acknowledge the privilege that comes with being my father's son but then show up and do the work. He has told me to follow my heart. His No 1 rule is just to be kind to yourself and others."

"Seniors" follows Paris's character Ori as he completes community service at a retirement home. The film also features John Rhys-Davies, 82, known for his roles in "The Lord of the Rings" and "Indiana Jones," who plays Albert Vernon, a troubled war veteran. Rhys-Davies also attended the premiere, posing with the Brosnan family.

Paris Brosnan's first on-set experience was in 2023 when Pierce Brosnan was filming "The Unholy Trinity." The director invited Pierce's sons to be in the film, where Paris and Dylan played cowboys. Pierce noted that Paris appeared to "revel" in being on camera.

Paris has also pursued other artistic endeavors, recently debuting his first art exhibition in London titled "Collective Energy." He described his father's support as "incredible."

Regarding the ongoing search for a new James Bond following Daniel Craig's departure in 2021, Paris indicated he is focused on forging his own legacy rather than stepping into his father's iconic shoes. He has previously expressed well-wishes to whoever eventually takes on the role.

Pierce Brosnan was married to his late wife Cassandra Harris, with whom he had two sons, Christopher, 52, and Sean, 43, and a daughter, Charlotte, who passed away in 2013. He married Keely Shaye Smith in 2001.
