A physiotherapist has been removed from the professional register after sexually assaulting a patient who sought treatment for knee and back pain. The tribunal that reviewed the case found the incident to be a "deliberate and catastrophic" betrayal of trust.
The assault occurred during a treatment session at the Good Street Medical Centre in Westmead. Following the session, the physiotherapist reportedly followed the patient from the clinic.
During sentencing, the magistrate characterized the physiotherapist's actions as a "significant breach of trust and a complete betrayal" of Patient A, who had sought treatment in good faith. The professional's conduct ultimately led to their removal from the register, preventing them from practicing.
