Phoebe Burgess Has Not Dated in Seven Years, Expresses Uncertainty About Modern Dating

Phoebe Burgess has revealed that she has not been on a date in seven years and has not engaged in even a "texting flirt," detailing her unfamiliarity with contemporary dating practices.

Burgess, who was married to former NRL player Sam Burgess for nearly four years, shared in an interview with Stellar magazine that she was surprised when a recently divorced friend quickly found a new partner. This observation prompted Burgess to reflect on her own extended absence from the dating scene. "Jesus, seven years without a date," she admitted. "Not even a texting flirt! I need someone to talk me through this. I don't know how it works... It's terrifying."

Burgess, a mother to Poppy, nine, and Billy, seven, has remained single since her high-profile marriage ended in 2019. She expressed reservations about joining celebrity dating apps like Raya, questioning how her current life circumstances would translate into an appealing online profile. "My life isn't overly app-attractive. What photo would I pick? The kids and me at school drop-off? Me at an event?" she remarked. "There's not one photo. I'd judge any man who would click on my profile, put it that way! And then the bio: 37, divorced, everyone knows about it. Uh, two children. I don't get weekends off – ever – so you'll have to work around that. And I live at home. There's nothing appealing in that! I don't think that I fit the apps thing."

Instead, Burgess joked that she might have to wait for the right opportunity to arise organically. "I guess the other thing is you sit back and wait for all the divorces to start happening, and you just catch one in the wind?" she said.

These candid remarks come as Burgess prepares to launch a new podcast titled (Over) Share, which she is co-hosting with Hannah Ferrier. Burgess also debuted a new, edgier look for the Stellar cover shoot, featuring a green knit maxi dress with fringed sleeves and a punk-inspired hairstyle.

Meanwhile, Burgess's ex-husband Sam Burgess and his new wife Lucy are expecting their third child together. Lucy announced the pregnancy in July, sharing a video of her family. Phoebe and Sam Burgess's divorce was finalized in October 2019, following a period of marital difficulties that included an initial separation in December 2018, shortly after the birth of their son.
